King Bidgood's in the Bathtub

"'Help! Help! 'Cried the Page when the sun came up. 'King Bidgood's in the bathtub, and he won't get out! Oh, who knows what to do?'"

Instead of ruling his kingdom, King Bidgood has decided to spend the day in his bathtub.  Laugh along as all the people in the castle try to coax the King out of the bath.  What finally succeeds in convincing him to leave is sure to make you smile.

Why I Love It

I absolutely love the crisp colors and detail in Don Wood's beautiful pictures. Take the time to go slow and enjoy them. Often they give an extra dimension to the book that you won't get from the words alone. I especially love the facial expressions of all the different characters in this story. Don't miss the pictures at the beginning and end of the book!

Talking Points

  • What would you say to try to get the King out of the tub?  Can you think of something that would be really funny if it happened in the tub?
  • Go back through the whole story and look at each person's face.  What does their face tell you about how they are feeling?
