Follow the instructions to watch the single dot multiply, jump all over the page and change color and size.

Why I Love It

This is currently one of my very favorite interactive picture books for kids around the age of 3. They love to press the dots and watch them change, like magic. The directions are simple enough for anyone to follow, but they still include complex vocabulary and keep the tone conversational instead of overly repetitive.

Talking Points

  • Count the dots! How many are there on each page? How many of each color? How many in the whole book?
  • Can you make your own picture using colored dots?
  • What pattern do the dots make when they all line up?  Can you find which dots switched places when the lights were off?
  • Notice what new colors are created when the dots get big and overlap. Play with paint or colored water and see what colors you can mix up.
